What is NLC?
The National Leadership Conference is an annual event that takes place at a different location every year. In 2015, NLC was at Chicago, Illinois. It is similar to SLC with workshops, networking opportunities, and competitions, but it in an amplified perspective. It is all of America's chapters in the same place at once. In addition, it spans across a 5 days rather than 2.
This year's venue: Baltimore, Maryland
This year's venue: Baltimore, Maryland
Qualifications
In order to be able to go to NLC, you must have completed at least one of the following:
- Taken a Regional test (You can go to NLC even if you did not score high enough)
- Competed at States
- Plan on competing in an event that begins at the national level
Transportation and Lodging
- Plane ride with the rest of the group (possibly along with another chapter near us)
- Hotel stay (again, if rooms are not filled, we may be lodging with another chapter) - Will vary year to year depending on venue
Cost
Because a plane ride is necessary, the full average cost of Nationals is around $950. In addition, food costs are not included in that price. Therefore, additional money must be brought for food. Since every location is different, it is recommended to bring $300 for spending money to be safe. Budget for $1000 at least.
